Candelilla wax, also known as tung oil wax, is a pale yellow, glossy, waxy solid with an aromatic odor. It is a brittle and hard plant-based wax. Candelilla wax contains special resin components and is highly resistant to temperature changes. It is a natural wax extracted from the candelilla tree. Its appearance is a yellowish-brown, opaque to translucent hard wax block or powder. It has a relative density of approximately 0.983, a melting point of 67–68℃, an iodine value of 37, and a refractive index of 1.4555. It is soluble in chloroform, hot petroleum ether, toluene, and alkalis, slightly soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in water.
